STEPTOE & SON'S VISIT THE STATION

steptoesonsvisitthestation.jpg

One of the strangest visitors to West Thurrock Power Station was the Rag & Bone Merchants Death & Son's.

He arrived with the traditional horse and cart, but any similarity with Steptoe and Son ended there as you see in the picture above.

He did not want scrap, but instead brought with him a cart load of Tailors Dummies that he duly brought on site and dumped into a large hole.

Don't be a Dummy

It was the directors way of making a dramatic point in a safety film he was making for the C.E.G.B called " Don't be a Dummy "

City Safari

On another occasion the Thames TV cameras were on site filming a programme called City Safari, it showed how wild life can survive and thrive in the seemingly sterile landscape of a Power Station
